He has received the Gold Pronosporc given by Mercolleida in the fattened pig category
Juan Pedro Florido, Director of Operations of ELPOZO ALIMENTACIÓN has won the Gold Pronosporc award for the sixth time from Mercolleida in the fattened pig category. Florido has six golds and two silvers under his belt in the nine editions held of these awards.
This professional from the company has come away with the award’s maximum distinction due to his success rate in forecasting the price of pork over this year. Juan Pedro Florido collected the award in the presence of the mayor of Lérida and president of Mercolleida, Àngel Ros and the secretary general for Agriculture and Food Carlos Cabana, as well as other important figures.
Juan Pedro Florido has been working for ELPOZO ALIMENTACIÓN for 23 years, where he has been Director of Operations for the last 16. Florido has been president of the European Meat Network (EMN), located in Brussels, and has taken part as a speaker in important forums such as the World Meat Congress.
Mercolleida is the forum where the most representative industrialists and livestock farmers in the country meet weekly to price live pig in Spain. This price is followed by the entire sector and sets the trend in the rest of the European markets. It has become the benchmark market for white pig livestock over the years, serving as a base for 90 per cent of the transactions of said livestock.
