The company has surpassed its charity challenge by securing 2,651 grants to help buy school materials for children from families who have been hit hardest by Covid.

In collaboration with Save the Children, ELPOZO ExtraTiernos developed the ‘Backpacks with Extra Care’ campaign, sponsored by the singer and composer Ruth Lorenzo. This campaign has raised 66,275 Euros to be used for 2,651 annual grants for school materials.

The regional director of Save the Children, Rodrigo Hernández, collected the charity cheque from Tomás and José Fuertes, the chairman and managing director of the food company, accompanied by the corporate director of Strategies and Investments, Augusto Fuertes and the corporate director of Human Resources and Legal Services, María José Cánovas.

“With this initiative, our company is reinforcing its social commitment and standing by the sectors that need the most support, especially at a time like this, when many families are suffering as a result of the health crisis. We want to help meet their most basic needs and for this reason, in collaboration with Save the Children, we continue to maintain our commitment to social organisations by promoting this much needed charitable initiative”, states Julián González, Marketing Director at El Pozo Alimentación.

The “Backpacks with Extra Care” campaign developed throughout the month of September, due to the return to school. ELPOZO Extratiernos made a donation to Save the Children after each of its ‘Extratierno Pork Fillet 600g’, ‘Extratierno Marinated Pork Fillet 600g’ and ‘Extratierno Pork Tenderloin’ products was sold.

The funds raised will contribute to the support programmes for children at risk of poverty or social exclusion. Save the Children currently helps more than 3,000 children between the ages of 0 and 18 in Spain.

Save the Children is the world’s largest independent NGO, employing 25,000 people in 120 countries. This specialised organisation is dedicated to helping the most vulnerable children, focusing on children at risk of poverty or social exclusion.
